Installing the Reference Type Table file in EndNote X9

1. Within EndNote, select EndNote X9 -> Preferences from the top menu.
2. Within the EndNote Preferences screen, select Reference Types on the left.
3. Click the Import button.
4. Select the ‘AGLCRefTypeTable.xml' file from your Downloads folder (note: the .xml extension may not be shown). Click Open.
5. Click Save at the bottom of the screen.
6. Close the screen by clicking the red dot at the top/left of the screen.

Installing EndNote styles

To install a new Style file:

• ensure EndNote is closed
• download the Style file
• navigate to the Applications folder where EndNote is installed. Double-click on EndNote X9
• go into the Styles folder
• copy the downloaded Style file into the Styles folder.

Re-open EndNote. The style will now be available in the list of available styles.

Changing between styles

To change the preview style displayed in your EndNote library:

Downloading & Installing EndNote X9 - Windows & Macintosh

STEPS

1. Close all Microsoft products, especially MS Word that is running on your computer before you start downloading.
2. Uninstall the previous versions of EndNote that is running in your computer

For your personal computers:

1. Download EndNote for your personal computers Mac or Windows
2. Authenticate with your KUMC username and password
3. Select the EndNote for your computer i.e Mac vs. Windows

2. Right click and select Extract All
3. The files will be extracted to a selected folder such as your desktop or documents.

2. Click save (on your desktop or documents)
3. Open Install EndNote X9 App from the prompt. You can also drag and drop the dmg file to the Applications folder to install.

• Windows: use Software Center. Follow instructions
• Mac: use Self Services : Follow instructions

EndNote X8 and X9 - Uninstall EndNote X8

EndNote X8 is still running on your computer?

It is suggested that you uninstall EndNtoe X8 before installing EndNote X9.

3. Click the Uninstall option at the bottom of this menu. When this is complete, it will remove all external components.
4. Click Quit.
5. Drag the EndNote folder from the Applications folder to the Trash.
6. Empty the Trash.

Uninstalling the previous versions of EndNote may not effect your EndNote library. You can also make a backup copy of your current EndNote library using the following commands.

• File > Compressed Library for libraries smaller than 5GB
• File > Save a Copy for larger libraries

• Upgrade to the latest versions of EndNote - while you are opening EndNote software, if a popup appear to upgrade the software, follow the prompts. Upgrading to the latest versions will help you to troubleshoot compatibility issues.
• EndNote libraries should be saved in your computer's hard drive, not in any cloud based storage such as Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive etc.
• While creating an EndNote library, EndNote create two files, .enl file and a .data file. These files should be saved in the same folder.
